Beautiful Weddings Don’t Have To Be Insanely Expensive

This post is sponsored by All opinions are my own.

I’ve been gathering a lot of wedding ideas lately because I’m planning Mama Cupcake’s wedding. Yes my parental unit is already married, in fact their 31st anniversary was just last week. My mother wants to have her dream wedding which she couldn’t have back in the day. In our wedding planning adventures, we’ve realized that beautiful weddings don’t have to be insanely expensive.
Anna Shannon's Wedding Dress - Honey Boo Boo
Anna Shannon, a reality star from Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, recently bought her wedding dress from Light In the Box for only $212! The wedding was featured on the finale episode of the show that aired on TLC on Thursday, August 14th. Although the Shannon family is known for their fun antics and not so ritzy style, I think Anna Shannon’s dress was absolutely beautiful and elegant. I think the whole wedding was the perfect combination of her personality and family life mixed with princess of the day!
While browsing the site I saw a bunch of wedding items from Light In The Box that my mother would love for her special day. Especially the dresses, so many gorgeous dresses! It’s definitely a source worth looking at for bridal attire and decor. I can totally see my Mama Cupcake in this Two-In-One Sheath/Column Halter Floor-length Chiffon Wedding Dress for just $127.99! This dress would be perfect for the ceremony followed by dancing at the reception. My mother can boogie! Plus it comes in colors other than white, I like the idea of this dress in champagne. I’m not surprised but when I showed it to her, she fell in love and I think we’ll be ordering it!

Of course I checked for Light In The Box coupons” and am happy to see some ways to save. I can definitely use $10 Off $99+ wedding and event accessories. Or the higher saving coupons because we also saw other wedding items on the site that we loved including invitations, jewelry, shoes and even some decorations. We’ll be doing some DIY floral arrangements but we can grab the major items we want from Light In The Box and save the bigger bucks for location fees, photographer, etc.

Are you currently wedding planning? Was your wedding dress expensive? Did you see the finale episode of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo with Anna Shannon’s wedding?

I’ve always said that if and when I get married, I want a simple, low cost wedding. I’d much prefer to spend money on the honeymoon. πŸ™‚

I agree with you, sometimes less is more. I just attended my friend’s wedding and it was beautiful and perfect even though she worked hard to stay on a budget.

I agree that staying on budget doesn’t take away from a wedding. Starting out in a ton of debt is not a good thing.

I totally agree, I couldn’t get this through to some loved ones. Who
wants to start out in debt for you first few years, umm, that’s a good
way to get a divorce. So many are focused on the day and not the
    lifetime together.

We had a small house wedding and were able to stay on budget and have a beautiful wedding.

We’ll be planning in the future and we already have a few ideas in mind. We’ll definitely be on a tight budget.

My husband and I eloped, and I agree that weddings don’t have to be super expensive! I think people get swept away and too caught up in too many things that aren’t really necessary. Sometimes less really is more πŸ™‚

I am thinking of renewing my vows at our 20th anniversary if we last that long. A wedding is as expensive as you want it to be. I’ve never heard of this site before but I’m sure it will be perfect for that and also for anyone planning their first wedding as well. Will have to check it out. Thanks for the review.

That short dress is too cute! I almost went with a short dress for my wedding πŸ™‚

They definitely don’t have to be expensive. It depends on what you are focusing on.

Expensive does not mean better. We did our whole wedding for 7000 and it was everything I wanted then some. I worked on what was imporatn to me and did not worry about the rest. PS her dress was STUNNING!

I love this dress and the fact that it can be worn both ways. Weddings do not need to cost a lot. It is all about celebrating a special day with your family and friends.

I agree with you that weddings don’t have to be expensive. I like the picture of the dress you posted above. It beautiful and very functional.

I totally agree! Weddings should be about the two people, not the audience. If the couple is happy, then it doesn’t need to be expensive! Love the dress!

I agree completely. I think some people really go overboard with their weddings. I think the simpler the better, it is more intimate that way. πŸ™‚

I love crafts and sewing, and made my wedding dress. I think it is more fun and less stressful, and maybe more enjoyable for guests who can appreciate the creativity and loving care that went into the decor, etc. That is a great idea for mama cupcake!!

We just had a wedding in the family, my son and his now wife. I cannot beleive we did it for such a great price. We made everything we could by hand. I made bouquets, and favors the family made center pieces together. they got the dress off the rack at TJMaxx for about $60

i think it would have been such a joy to make my own wedding dress short or long.. i agree with one other post about the limits that some go to on the amount they share for their weddings.. if you have it to spare i suppose would be ok but why spend so much there when could put on your home or putting into savings would be fantastic with the way money matters are now. money doesn’t make the marriage last longer.. My parents could not afford to spend any on a wedding so my husband and I went before justice of the peace!! will be happily married 35 years in April~ doesn’t get much better than that!!

I have a son getting married in a few months and this is very useful information. I did watch Anna Shannon’s wedding on Honey Boo Boo and it was very nice and her dress was beautiful for that price!!!
