This week the new Urban Decay Naked Smoky eyeshadow palette was released after much anticipation. I have Naked 1 & 2 but I skipped Naked 3 and Naked Basics. Thanks to Urban Decay and Conde Nast I was able to get my hands on Naked Smoky and I’m happy to say it didn’t disappoint me.
The eyeshadow in the Urban Decay Naked Smoky palette lived up to the great quality I’m used to from the brand. A mixture of 12 shimmer, satin and matte shades that applied easily with good pigmentation. It’s very brown girl friendly with my warm tones but I haven’t tried it on anyone with cool tones yet. I actually dig this palette more than any other Urban Decay palette I have because I like every single shade. Plus the included double ended smoky smudger/tapered crease brush is a keeper and the mirror is great as always!
Even the packaging is better in my opinion. I just love the smoky theme look of the palette casing. At first I was all “Ooh marble perfection!” then I realized smoky as in Naked Smoky. Duh.
After years and years of torturous smoky eye practice, I’m finally at a place where I’m satisfied with my results. We’ve all heard it…blend, blend, blend. I used to give a legit stink eye when people said that to me but it’s so true. I’ve actually come to love smoky eyes which in my opinion can be as dramatic or subtle as you want and doesn’t have to be done with black shadow. I typically wear brown, grey or purple smoky eyes and I prefer wearing mine where subtle and dramatic meet in the middle.
Normally the brown shade Whiskey would be a go to for me in the Naked Smoky palette but the shade I’ve been unable to resist is Smolder! Smolder already looks abused compared to the rest of the palette, I put this baby to work. For the photos in this post I used Smolder, High and Combust.
Do you have the Urban Decay Naked Smoky palette? If so which shades are your favorites? If you don’t have the palette I definitely recommend checking it out at Sephora, ULTA and select Macy’s stores! You can also order online at Sephora, Ulta, macys.com or Urban Decay‘s website.
