The Makeup Show made it’s way to Orlando, FL for the very first time and I had the opportunity to attend the show with a press pass along with several of my fellow Beauty Bloggers of Central Florida sisters. I was beyond excited, hearing nothing but great things about The Make Show in other cities. I was also a bit nervous to meet some industry darlings I look up to and I wanted to soak in as much information as I could! I wanted to keep this short but there are quite a few photos and The Makeup Show Orlando was amazing, so I’m going to break this into three posts. Let’s get started…
The Makeup Show Orlando Blogger Preview
James Vincent, Director of Artistry of The Makeup Show, The Powder Group and On Makeup Magazine, hosted the blogger preview. James Vincent is such a ball of sunshine, you could listen to him talk about anything for hours and never be bored. He’s hilarious and welcoming so any anxiety you could have about meeting him go right out the door, you really feel like you’ve known him for years! By the way, James will be contributing to Beautylish so be on the lookout! Whoa, back to the blogger preview! This was a very informative session where James explained how he stumbled upon the world of makeup artistry while in school for Social Work and writing a thesis on women of color. He then gave us bloggers a sneak peek of some of his favorite products, what to expect at the event the next day and why the decision was made to debut The Makeup Show Orlando. James mentioned the affordability of traveling to Orlando and that there is such a large amount of talented artists in the Orlando area. That is a statement I completely agree with! We really have some amazing talent in the beauty and fashion industry and it’s beyond time that we ink Central Florida on the map for that!
James mentioned that some of the brands we would see at the show the next day were from Florida! I was pretty stoked about that as I feel it’s awesome to support local businesses. Yup, I said stoked, don’t judge me! I immediately took note to be sure to stop by the booths of the brands he mentioned. Especially Ofra Cosmetics, a local beauty brand I surprisingly did not know of yet. There would also be some new products debuting at the show, woot! Information about seminars and keynote speakers was shared as well, so I took notes on which ones I had to see.
Elessa Jade from PurseBuzz.com and Koren Zander of Enkore Makeup stopped by and shared details with us about their booths for the show. Elessa had two gorgeous brush sets and tons of accessories for the show. Koren had his awesome Cuff’lette, Ring Palette and Mascara Shield available. Koren also has a beauty app for iPhone and iPad called Face Chart Pro. What I’m most excited about is his sonic brush cleaner that cleans makeup brushes in mere minutes! Impatiently waiting it’s release!
We were all gifted with a swag bag with some pretty fabulous products by Kissable Couture, Senna Cosmetics, Crown Brush, Graftobian Makeup Company, Elessa Jade, Embryolisse, Naked Cosmetics, Zuca, Stila, Smashbox and Makeup Forever. Maria hooked up the Beauty Bloggers of Central Florida with the newest Cult Nails collection, Behind Closed Doors! Also, Krystal of BFTE Cosmetics graciously gave us some gorgeous loose shadow.
The blogger preview was definitely helpful and I’m glad I did not miss it. It was also great to have a Beauty Bloggers of Central Florida reunion of sorts. I hadn’t seen many of the girls in so long! Some of us went to eat at Chili’s after the blogger preview and I can’t even get into what a great time we had! I think we were all so hungry and excited about the next day that we forgot to take a big group photo! Anywho Maria of Cult Nails, Alyssa from Pretty Little Bottles, Safia from Lipstick Mixtapes, Courtney from Phyrra.net, Kimberly from Libby’s Pink Vanity and myself were the Beauty Bloggers of Central Florida members at dinner. Also joining us were Krystal of BFTE Cosmetics who came all the way from Kansas and my best friend Marlene from A Big Bit Of Everything. Marlene and I have been friends for nearly 15 years and she drove down to Orlando from Jacksonville, FL to spend the weekend with me and also attend the show!
It really was a great day. Marlene and I were so excited to attend The Makeup Show Orlando the next day, that we could barely sleep that night! Now, be sure to look out for The Makeup Show Orlando Recap Part One because there’s more to share!
