One Happy Island – Divi Resorts Aruba

Divi Resorts Aruba

When you leave a destination with the distinct feeling that you should live there, you know you’ve found a winner. Aruba is that destination for me and Divi Village Golf & Beach Resort is a home away from home.

Divi Resorts Aruba

Divi Divi Tree Aruba

Divi Divi tree is Aruba’s trademark. They always point southwest because of winds that blow across the island from the northeast.

My friend (and assistant) Rios and I were in Aruba to attend our good friend’s wedding which was absolutely beautiful! Weddings at Divi Resorts are carefully planned and your coordinator is there for you from start to finish. There are different wedding packages to choose from as well as honeymoon options. My friends were married in a sweet and humorous ceremony as requested on the beach during the very last moments of daylight. Professional photos of the wedding party as well as guests were taken against the most breathtaking beach sunset. Refreshments and appetizers were served as live music was played before heading to the reception. I saw first-hand why Aruba is a top wedding destination!

The reception was held in the Alhambra Casino ballroom, also a Divi Resorts property. Upon arrival we were greeted with a delicious drink and escorted to the ballroom by staff dressed in captain uniforms to fit the theme, which was travel. Every table was assigned an international destination the couple had traveled to. The wedding coordinator did an amazing job! The night continued with great food, way too much photo booth fun and dancing the night away. Of course I ended up being the proud new owner of one of the captain’s hats! πŸ˜‰

Divi Village Golf & Beach Resort is the type of place where you can enjoy your entire stay on property unless you actually want to explore. With 9 dining options, 2 fresh water pools, golf course, tennis courts, spa, fitness center, live entertainment and more there is plenty to see and do without going far. We were happy to find out there is complimentary Wi-Fi so we used WhatsApp & social media to keep in touch with our families and check-in for flights, etc. Divi Village Golf & Beach Resort is also kid friendly with their Treasures of the Caribbean Kids Club, pool & video game room. The beach is right across the street so you can walk or hop on the free shuttles that pass every 10-15 minutes.

I made lots of new pals in Aruba, not all of them were human.

Room options include studio, 1 & 2 bedroom suites with garden or ocean views as well as studio & 1 bedroom golf villas with garden or pool views. Some of the golf villas have private rooftop jacuzzi access! I stayed in a 1 bedroom golf villa with rooftop jacuzzi and needless to say I felt like I was in paradise. The 1 bedroom unit had a king size bed, fully equipped kitchen, living room with a queen sleeper sofa, dining area, 2 full bathrooms and 2 balconies which I loved. The villa was so comfortable and spacious it actually felt much better than my own 3 bedroom home. I didn’t want to leave and when I return for New Year’s Eve next year I’m booking the golf villa again!

I enjoyed lounging on both of my balconies and going upstairs to my jacuzzi to relax.

With fully equipped kitchens you  go to the market located on Irausquin Blvd. It is seriously within walking distance. We got a ride there but after seeing how close it was we felt ridiculous and decided to walk back when we were ready. You can’t miss the market because there is huge shopping cart in front. I tried to climb inside but that was a petite girl fail. Next time! πŸ˜‰

You can't miss this market in Aruba, there's a huge shopping cart in front!

If you don’t want to cook you won’t be short on dining options. From buffets, burgers and pizza to fine dining at Windows on Aruba the options are vast. We mainly ate at the resort because the food was irresistibly delicious! With the optional all-inclusive add on you can eat and drink to your hearts desire at all the food locations, excluding Windows on Aruba and Mulligan’s which are an additional fee. Both are affordable and very much worth it!

I also had the chance to visit Divi Aruba Phoenix Beach Resort during my time in Aruba. Divi Aruba Phoenix is a short drive from Divi Village but also located on Irausquin Blvd and you’ll enjoy the ocean views along the way. This beach front resort has studio suite to 3 bedroom penthouse suites with kitchen, living room, dining area, full bathrooms and in suite jacuzzi. With room selection I suggest the beach tower suites because the views are fabulous!

At Divi Phoenix you’ll be entertained by live entertainment, eat well at 3 restaurants, get pampered at Pure Indulgence Spa and be steps away from the water and boardwalk. You’ll also have access to Wi-Fi, bike rentals and beach palapas. Don’t worry about your fitness routine suffering, there is a gym on property as well.

If you venture off property at either Divi Resorts location there is plenty to do, see and eat in Aruba. Shopping, casino, nightlife and more. Arikok National Park is highly recommended, do it! Book an island tour with stops at some of the top spots in Aruba or excursions like a submarine experience, scuba diving or sunset sailing. Many are offered via DePalm Tours, most popular on the island, but there are others as well. Rent a car and explore on your own, Aruba is not very difficult to navigate. Or you can commute by taxi. There are several options and the concierge located in the lobbies at Divi Village Golf & Beach Resort and Divi Phoenix can book your adventures based on your interests, time and budget.
