The Makeup Show Orlando is literally an oasis of artistry, education and makeup packed into a 2 day weekend for the beauty industry in Florida and beyond. This year was friggin amazing! Aside from the multitude of products The Makeup Show Orlando 2014 had quite a hefty lineup of classes, seminars and keynotes which were my main focus this year. Of course I pounced on booths like a hungry lion catching it’s prey but my primary mission this year was learning and networking. This post is picture heavy, you’ve been warned…
Awesomeness Before The Makeup Show Orlando
A few days prior, I attended The Makeup Show Meet & Greet in downtown Orlando at the Orlando Santiago Makeup Academy. Finally got to see it in person and wow, just wow! James Vincent gave us a bit of incite about the show and everyone mingled.
The day before The Makeup Show Orlando was the Blogger Preview event where James told us some exciting things to expect and shared some current product faves. I love how James & the TMS team are so focused on bringing together artists that inspire and educate and brands that really fit into the needs of local FL artists and students. There is so much thought put into the itinerary and brand selection and it definitely shows!
Right after the Blogger Preview was The Makeup Show Orlando Opening Party where select invitees + the TMS Orlando Ambassadors gathered for a bit of mingling. I was a bad blogger and didn’t take any photos since I was far too busy enjoying myself. Such a shame since my dress was pretty cute. 😉 I’ll throw it back on soon and do an outfit post! For now, here’s a token bathroom selfie from my hotel room at the Hyatt Regency Orlando after the party.
The Makeup Show Orlando Day 1
I started my TMS Orlando 2014 adventure with none other than AJ Crimson. Y’all know I love some AJ…his artistry, products and personality are simply awesome! In his Skin Artistry seminar AJ demonstrated technique and answered tons of questions like a boss. Did you know you don’t need 4+ colors to create a beautiful eye look? Mhmm, you can use just 1 (or 2) shades of eye shadow and still look amazing! I’ve been doing this lately and I have to tell you, I’m in super easy makeup heaven. Give it a shot. Of course my first booth stop was my darlings at OFRA Cosmetics! It’s always great to see them and catch up on what is new. Have you seen their new winter lippies? The 2 new shades of Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick are Mocha and New Orleans. I’ve been looking for a new nude shade and I must have everything plummy purple so I scooped up both shades and will share swatches soon!
Always love, laughs & amazing products @ofracosmetics booth @themakeupshow Orlando. I recommended so many people to this booth & every single person loved what they bought! #tmsorlando #ofracosmetics #ofrapro #mua #beauty #makeup #skincare #ofragirls #ofragirl A photo posted by Mina Slater (@minaslater) on
There was no way I was about to miss Making It In Makeup with Renny Vasquez! In his keynote Renny took us through a gorgeous makeup application step by step. He applied makeup to half of the face, leaving the other side a blank canvas which really helped with seeing the impact of each step. We learned a bit more about Renny himself and he also answered audience questions. Renny is such a sweetie pie filled with love, laughter, ambition and talent. I had the pleasure of interviewing him later that day so be on the lookout for more about Renny as well as some makeup tips!
I had a great time chatting it up with the folks of Beauty Butler! It’s pretty friggin cool and I’ll have a post up about this nifty product soon!
Serenity + Scott was there being all awesome! I have to say, Scott’s mustache totally wins at life!
The Makeup Show Orlando Day 2
I started off day 2 by speed walking straight to Making Up With Merrell Hollis. This man. This artist. This amazing human being is just phenomenal! As we all watched him demo a makeup application step by step he answered questions, had us all laughing, inspired many and shared a bit about himself and his journey. I was able to interview him and he is just so humble and easy to talk to! While his talent has a lot to do with his success I think his in-friggin-credible personality plays a large role as well, he is a beautiful soul!
I couldn’t wait to spend time with my homies at Frends Beauty! I snatched up some AJCPRO Pan foundation and Veil Complexion Fix. It was Matt’s job to carry me around the show. Okay not really but it would’ve been friggin awesome! 😉
I was insanely excited about the Peepshow Creep Show competition and made sure to catch the final display and judging. The grand prize winner was Shannon Holt. All 3 finalists did amazing work, just look at how detailed they are!
A major thing that I love about The Makeup Show is the unity. There are so many artists willing to openly share their knowledge, advice and even take you under their wing if you’re serious, hard working and passionate enough. It’s not a weekend filled with rivalry, judgement and gossip. It’s a place of inspiration, encouragement, celebration and growth for all. I had such a great time with all of the artists, students and bloggers!
Whether you’re a makeup beginner or a seasoned artist there is room for you at The Makeup Show! The dates for next year are set with a few possible surprises popping too. Start planning your TMS weekend now and visit TheMakeupShow.com for more info.
