Lupus Awareness Month
Fact of the day: Lupus is not related to HIV/AIDS. In lupus, the immune system is overactive, while in HIV or AIDS, the immune system is underactive.
One question that is often asked when people first learn about Lupus is if it is contagious. No, Lupus is not something you get from or transmit to others, it is not passed from one person to another in any way. Just like you do not catch diabetes or cancer from others, you do not catch lupus either.
