Ladies and gents, I’m going to share something with you. I’m not rich and I too have bills. Often times people see lifestyles and assume amazing income must be the root of it all. You may see me travel or shop quite often but what you do not see is that I strategically plan my finances to make my lifestyle work with what funds I have. I also leverage sales, discounts and coupons where I can. My trips, entertainment and shopping come with sacrifice. I decide which is most important to me. I spend less on one so I can have the other. Money management is key folks!
No matter what your income is, you need to have a plan. A plan consisting of where your money goes, how it will get there and when. I have a very strict plan for my funds that includes saving, investing, bill payments and miscellaneous spending. I find it extremely helpful to divide my spending into categories and setting limits for each. Based on my income I tallied up bill payments, household expenses, saving and investing. The rest is what I consider fun money which I divvy up into travel funds and shopping. You may need to make minor adjustments along the way as you figure things out. Setting your savings goals plus spending limits and sticking to them truly determines whether your budget will be successful or not.
Money Management Is Easy With U by BB&T
U by BB&T, a secure and bank-backed platform, makes it easy to see where your money is going with budgeting tools so you can set up spending and saving goals. This is the first step to easy money management and finding ways to make your money fit more closely with the lifestyle you want. U helps track your budget with charts and graphs you can easily understand so you can stay on course with your plan. This is especially great because you can just login to see what remains from your spending limit before making a purchase while at a store. Every time I shop, I login to my banking dashboard to see exactly where I’m at with my limits so I do not exceed my budget. Remember, stick to the plan!
All you need to use U is a BB&T savings or checking account and you can easily customize your banking dashboard to view the tools that are important to you. Send or receive money from friends and family using email address or mobile number, view your other accounts outside of BB&T, make appointments or call your BB&T banker all from within the U platform. Another feature I like is being able to store your receipts by scanning them or having them emailed to keep track of them. I’m a big fan of digital receipts and having less paper to file away! The most in depth features are available on desktop and tablet but the mobile version also has the key features needed while out and about. I’ve used U by BB&T on desktop and iPad numerous times but to be sure I accessed it on my Android phone as well as kiddo’s iPhone before sharing with you all. I can confirm it works on each platform plus you can make mobile deposits. So whether you’re team Android or iPhone, U has your back!
Next year I have some major travel plans so it has already been decided that I will be cutting back on dining out and shopping so I can allocate those funds to my trips. Aside from living expenses, travel is my priority and it is not possible without proper money management. Setting these goals along with using tools to help me stay on track has been essential to my lifestyle. As long as I stick to the plan I should be able to accomplish everything I want next year. I’m often asked how I afford to travel. I cannot give you exact numbers because my plan won’t work for you. Our budgets are different but what I can tell you is this. Make a plan. Whatever your income, priorities and goals are. Set your savings goals, spending limits and stick to them. Use a valuable tool like U by BB&T to help you. Learn more about U.
