Julep Maven has had a box change! March 2013 marks the first appearance of Modern Beauty which takes the place of American Beauty boxes. Apparently numerous requests were made for Julep to offer an all beauty box. Julep listened and voila, the Modern Beauty box was born! Like I mentioned, it takes the place of American Beauty which is no longer available as a Julep Maven profile. March 2013 is themed The Playful Collection. Here are details and reviews of items in the first ever Julep Maven Modern Beauty box!

Julep Maven Modern Beauty March 2013
- Julep Glycolic Hand Scrub
- Julep Rock Star Hand Creme
- Extra: Julep Strawberry-Mint Lip Balm
Julep Glycolic Hand Scrub
Julep Glycolic Hand Scrub is fantabulous, I flippin love this stuff! It comes in a 3oz squeeze tube, is made with natural apricot seeds, 10% glycolic acid and smells divine! My only wish is that it would come in a larger size. I just love it so much it would be nice to see a 6 or 8oz version available. Then I’d use the 3oz for travel!

The granules are efficient at scrubbing away dirt and dry, dead skin yet gentle enough not to hurt or irritate my delicate, sensitive skin. I seriously didn’t want to rinse the hand scrub off because it smelled and felt abso-friggin-lutely amazing! I was uber happy after I rinsed to notice that the fragrance didn’t go away. Yea buddy!

My hands and cuticles were left extremely soft and smooth. Julep Glycolic Hand Scrub can actually be used all over the body. It makes for a really great body scrub, especially for arms. I won’t be trying a facial on my sensitive combo skin although it can be used for the face according to Julep. I’ll be waiting until I get another tube to do a full body scrub again, I don’t want this baby to run out too fast!
Julep Rock Star Hand Creme
Julep Rock Star Hand Creme has “Its a hit!” written on it and in my opinion it is indeed a hit! I’m picky with hand cream but this is one I want in my stash for the long run. Julep Rock Star Hand Creme comes in a snazzy 3oz tube it’s very smooth and a little goes a long way. It is easy to over do it like I did and have to spread the creme onto your wrists and almost even to the elbow! You can definitely sense the shea butter and a bit of coconut oil from the sweet, light scent of this hand cream. Julep Rock Star Hand Creme leaves my hands well moisturized without feeling greasy or slippery and lasts until I wash my hands. I wash my hands more than the average since I’m a bit of a germaphobe but the extra cream I applied to my arm lasted all day.

Whoa, let’s rewind to my “shut the front door” moment…the cap totally fooled me with trickery! You don’t remove the cap, you just twist it a bit then squeeze the product out from an opening in the middle. I fiddled with the thing for a few minutes, nearly threw it against the wall and almost called Julep to be all “my Rock Star Hand Creme bottle is broken, help!”. Glad I figured it out and saved face, that would’ve been a big ol’ duh moment! 😉

The only dislike I have about it is that the twist cap has a minor flaw in my opinion. When closed, the inner portion does not completely touch the edge. So if you’re not careful to scoop up all of the product, you may eventually find dried up product clogged at the opening. I live in Florida and bugs here are weird and like everything, so I make sure to wipe it squeaky clean. Love the thought of the twist cap, I just think it needs a revision so it comes to a complete close. I did however squeeze super hard after closing to make sure no product would leak out and all was fine! So yea minor flaw but hey, this is a product review right?! 😉

I like Julep Glycolic Hand Scrub and Julep Rock Star Hand Creme individually but l-o-v-e them together as a set! It’s like going to a spa or good quality nail salon that totally preps and pampers your hands before doing your nails. My hands were totally ready for a manicure…or swatching 8 Julep nail polishes like I did!
