Eyeliner is big news this year and by the looks of the catwalks, it will continue into 2013 as well. The most popular style at the moment seems to be the ‘cat eye’ style flick, with the slightly more subtle, smaller version being named the ‘kitten eye’. Applying any style of eyeliner can be tricky if you have not had the practice, so here are some simple instructions to help you create stunning eyes.
First, choose the right colour of eyeliner to suit your eyes. For light eyes, go for brown and bronze colours, whereas if your eyes are darker you are best going for a black. If you don’t have the right colour of eyeliner, then next time you are on a shopping spree, also make the effort to head to your favourite make up store and pick up the perfect shade to suit you. There are also a few different types of eyeliner, the two most common being pencil and liquid. Pencil eyeliner can be smudged to create a soft look, whereas liquid eyeliner gives a sharper effect.
Now it is time to apply the liner to your eyes. Eyeliner usually looks best if it begins above your iris and extends outwards, rather than along the whole length of your eyelid. Carefully draw a line on the lash line of your lid, as close to your lashes as possible. It is up to you if you want to extend the line out past the corner of your eye, or to keep it simple and subtle. If you want to give it a flick, then it can help to draw a tiny dot where you want the flick to end. This will act as a guideline and will reduce the risk of you making a mistake. Check that both sides are even and correct any mistakes with a cotton swab.
thanks for the suggestion about drawing the little dot. I really don't like eyeliner on me, still need to practice I guess. I'll have to give this a try.
I appreciate all the tips you give.. I'm not the best at applying makeup and need all the help I can get!
I'll try this
I will for sure have to try this out! Those are some great tips!
Thanks for the tips! I've always had trouble getting both of my eye lines to match, to the point where I've wondered if my eyes are a little different shape from each other. I'm happy to give hope to everyone out there though, that practice does make perfect, or at least help. π I used to be TERRIBLE at applying eyeliner, and I'm getting a little better at it. Right now I'm working on the "wing", and now that I've had some trial and error practice I'm starting to get a little better at it, still working on it though. π
Thanks for the great tips!!
This is so helpful! Thanks!
