The holiday season is one of my favorite times of year. It is such a feel good season and I love the holiday cheer, the songs, beautiful decorations…food! It is also the most popular time for holiday parties. Out of all types of gatherings, a holiday celebration is the most fun in my opinion. They can also be quite tiring with all the prepping and of course the actual fun. Whether you are hosting or attending a holiday celebration, one thing that is easy to prepare and is always a guaranteed hit is a cheese board!
Making a cheese board is ridiculously easy but may very well be the most crowd-pleasing bites at the shindig. Seriously. Your cheese board can be as simple or elaborate as you wish. Regardless it all starts with cheese! Stella Cheese is a hit with my family and it’s no surprise with such a wide variety of quality cheese. A good starting point when selecting cheese is to pick at least 1-2 extremely popular types, one of your favorites and then perhaps something new. I like to use at least 3 flavors when creating a cheese board for my family of 5 or a small gathering. For larger parties I prefer 6 or more flavors as the larger assortment helps ensure that most attendees will find at least one cheese to enjoy.
The cheese flavors on my go to list are:
- Blue Cheese
You’ll want to add a variety of meats to your cheese board as well. If you’re pressed for time or would rather not deal with cutting meat, you can purchase pre-cut meat and save even more time to prep other appetizers and dishes for your guests. Either way, it won’t take more than a few minutes unless you are a slow and cautious with sharp objects like I am. It takes me 5 minutes just to wash a knife. Don’t judge me. Also keep in mind the size and thickness of meat slices. Some like small, thick slices but my family prefers large, thin slices to make mini sandwiches. There are plenty of meats to choose from but I typically use:
Adding additional surroundings will really make your cheese board even better! An array of nuts, fruit, veggies, crackers or bread pair well with the cheese and meats and will also help the spread last longer to serve more people. If you only serve cheese and meat it will it disappear right before your eyes but adding extra treats will help fill tummies faster, leaving more for other guests to sample. My go to extras are:
- Apple slices
- Carrot sticks
- Sweet pickles
I recently made a cheese board with Stella Asiago Cheese, Stella Parmesan Cheese and Stella Romano Cheese. It was gone in less than 5 minutes. Thank goodness I snapped photos to share before anyone touched it! I cannot explain it but I can undoubtedly say that a holiday party is never the same without a cheese board. Presenting a cheese board at a gathering will make you everyone’s favorite host or guest. Take it up a notch and purchase Stella Cheese for your next holiday party. You will definitely be dubbed the holiday food fairy!
