So it looks as though summer is drawing to a close; the evenings are getting darker, the sun seems to only make an appearance on certain days and there’s a slight chill and crisp in the early morning air. Autumn is a wonderful season to look forward to, with Halloween, Bonfire Night, cozy nights in, great TV and warm comforting food. But for many of us, the influence of Summer can leave our décor looking a little tired and worse for wear. It’s time to stop thinking about lazy summer days and bring a little bit of Autumn into your home with these 5 autumn decor ideas.

Your Garden

That’s right! Just because summer is over, doesn’t mean you can’t keep your garden full or rich, warm colors that’ll last right until Spring. What you need is to ensure your garden is kept clear of debris to allow any bulbs the chance of growing in time for Spring. If you’re hoping to add some
more plants to your garden, then hardy shrubs such as the Blue Star Juniper Shrubs from The Tree Center are the perfect place to start. Keep your garden tidy and it’ll look beautiful no matter what the colder months throw at it.

Throws And Cushions

There’s nothing better than snuggling up on the sofa on a chilly afternoon with a mug of something hot, some good TV and a blanket or two. In Summer we tend to opt for minimal layers so things like extra cushions and throws are usually banished into storage. But now autumn is here, they can be welcomed back with open arms. Compliment your sofa with scatter cushions in orange, teal chocolate tones. The same applies for throws and blankets – make sure your blankets are soft and your cushions overstuffed, layer them up nicely and you’ll be pretty comfortable for that Netflix marathon!

Paint

It might seem a little on the extreme side, but if your living room or hallway has had a bit of a battering this summer and is looking a little tired, then why not freshen it up with a lick of paint that just screams Autumn? Colors like rich, burnt oranges are classed as energetic an welcoming so they’re the perfect addition to a kitchen space or even introduced as a feature wall color in your living room. Try and keep it in small doses though!

Add Some Extras

If painting an entire wall seems a little intense or too much of a commitment then don’t worry, you can still add a touch of Autumn here and there. Introduce a few accessories, like themed wall art, orange pillows, a new candle and even your bed spread are lovely ways to welcome in the new season.

The Smells

Autumn is a time for harvesting and warm, comforting meals. So why not fill your home with the scent of sweet bakes, hearty stews, and warm breads – or simply fake it with a gorgeous scented candle!
