Revlon Expression Experiment | Express Yourself With Makeup

ColorStay 16 Hour Eye Shadow Inspired Quad - Revlon Expression Experiment - Bright Eyes Challenge

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Revlon. All opinions are 100% mine.

Revlon has an exciting Facebook app that challenges women just like you to express themselves through makeup! How awesome is that?! It’s called the Revlon Expression Experiment. This is a fun way to experiment and try new colors and products to help express yourself. I like a lot of Revlon products and grew up seeing them as both my mother and nana used Revlon. It’s a quality drugstore brand that’s affordable and easy to use, which is important to most of us ladies these days. Whatever mood you’re in or function you need to attend, Revlon is ready to help you feel confident and look your best!

I have taken a few of these challenges that include using lipstick, eyeshadow, nail polish and more in a way that is new to me. This was extremely fun for me, I discovered some new looks, techniques and products that I love and plan to include in my makeup routine more often. For instance, I never thought I would wear red lipstick…ever! But through this experience, after seeing the photos of myself sporting red lipstick, I now see that it’s actually quite flattering on me! Check out photos from my Revlon Expression Experiment below and join me by stepping up to the challenges! You can find them on Revlon’s Facebook page!

For the Red Lipstick Challenge I tried out Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick Certainly Red, Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter Cherry Tart and Revlon ColorBurst Lip Gloss Fire. They are all beautiful colors but I personally like the Cherry Tart lip butter best with my skin tone and love the way it feels. I also want to mention that the Colorburst Lip Gloss in Fire is very pigmented, I used the lip gloss on my lips with no other product in the photo below. Since I typically wear neutral eye shadow and lightly blushed cheeks, adding a red lip gave me an extra bold boost in both my look and confidence.

For the Perfect Canvas Challenge, I was excited to see what Revlon PhotoReady Perfecting Primer could do since when I apply full face makeup, I typically use Revlon foundation. At first glance, I gave this makeup primer the stink eye! Seriously. It’s milk white and I’m milk chocolate…well not exactly but you know what I mean! I gave it a chance anyway and surprisingly it blended and basically became sheer on my skin. It felt smooth and was like a thin barrier between my skin and foundation. I loathe the thought of applying foundation directly on skin without primer, it feels icky and seeps into pores. Grossness! I was pleased with the outcome, check it out…

I also jumped into the Bright Eyes Challenge. As mentioned I usually wear neutral eye shadow as well as purples, pinks and cool blues. To try something I don’t often do, I used Revlon ColorStay 16 Hour Eye Shadow Inspired quad. The green caught my eye right away as it’s said to be beautiful for brown eyes. First I applied Revlon PhotoReady Eye Primer + Brightener. I used teal on the inner half of my lid and green on the outer half, then blended. I used the deep blue/indigo on my crease and the taupe/beige as a highlight and of course blended. I then used the teal on the inner corner of my lash line. Even when I dabble in color, I tend to apply lightly but for this look I wanted to do something fun and different. It is after all a challenge, the perfect time to try new things! So I wanted a more pigmented look. One way to make eye shadow more pigmented is to dampen your brush, dip it in the color of choice and apply. Another way, which I prefer, is to use a light base such as a white eye shadow pencil or the lightest concealer you have. This was my favorite challenge in the Revlon Expression Experiment!

For the looks above, unless stated otherwise, I used Revlon PhotoReady Perfecting Primer and Revlon ColorStay Foundation Caramel. I applied my foundation using my BeautyBlender and eye shadow using Sigma Mrs. Bunny brushes. I’d love for you darlings to try the challenges through the Revlon Expression Experiment, it really is fun!

Thank you! I had a lot of fun using all the products with the challenges. It was like when I played dress up with my mother's makeup as a kid…except I didn't make myself look like a clown this time ๐Ÿ™‚
