Can you remember an awkward moment in life that didn’t go exactly as planned and you wish you could go back and relive that moment perfectly? If you really think about it, maybe it shouldn’t be changed at all. I remember wanting everything to be perfect for my sweet 16. Mama Cupcake and I spent months putting every detail together. Dresses, hair, makeup and most importantly the special dance with my date, Juan. Somehow we failed to realize Juan couldn’t dance! My feet and gown were stepped on, we bumped heads, almost fell…that saying “two left feet” was meant for people like Juan. Seriously. Instead of having this fancy, elegant dance I hoped for, guests were laughing and teasing and I nearly cried right in the middle of the dance floor. We eventually shrugged it off and had a great time just being silly together and everyone joined in!
By the end of the night I didn’t care that I was with the boy with no rhythm, I was happy to be with the boy that loved me enough to make a complete fool of himself just to see me smile! It wasn’t perfect, it was how it was meant to be just like with Tim and Mary in the movie About Time. When you plan a big event such as a wedding you want it to be absolutely perfect. Sometimes there are little glitches, like rain or in my case 2 left feet, but that shouldn’t get in the way. Roll with the punches and make the best out of it because those glitches sometimes make the best, unforgettable memories!
I was offered the opportunity to attend a press screening of About Time – A film from Richard Curtis, the creator of Love Actually, Notting Hill, and Four Weddings and a Funeral. About Time is the story of Tim Lake (Domhnall Gleeson), a young guy with a gift to go back and relive any moment of his life. After falling in love with Mary (Rachel McAdams), he decides to make sure all their big moments together are perfect! But instead he learns that life and love are most extraordinary when you embrace all of their imperfections. This comedy about love is definitely a must see. Critics are saying About Time is “easily the most heartwarming, feel-great film of the season” and I totally agree! Check out the About Time movie trailer…
About Time will be in theaters November 8, 2013 (11/08/13) and I highly recommend seeing it! It will definitely have you reminiscing about those funny, awkward moments in your life! Are there any awkward moments you’d like to relive?
