I’m rather picky when it comes to metallic nail polish. I have a silver metallic from Julep (Harley) that’s okay and my favorite is Trixie by Zoya. Zoya is my favorite nail polish brand but Essie is also a love of mine. I figured it would be worth trying something from Essie’s Mirror Metallics collection since I’ve never had major issues with their nail polish. I was ecstatic when I was notified I’d get a complimentary Mirror Metallics shade by Essie from Klout. I ended receiving ‘no place like chrome’, a silver metallic. Essie luxeffects stroke of brilliance also made it’s way into the spotlight…
Essie no place like chrome Made Me Sad
In the bottle, ‘no place like chrome’ is gorgeous and looked promising. Could it be, a second silver metallic nail polish that I’ll love? Umm, no. I’m sorry to say, but this may be the worst nail polish I’ve ever worked with! I’m shocked. It does not glide on at all. It streaks, separates and even clumps. I tried using thin layers and I tried using thicker layers and it didn’t turn out nice either way.
I don’t know if I received a bad batch but this was an absolute nightmare and nothing like the quality I’m used to from Essie.
Essie luxeffects To The Rescue!
I love Essie luxeffects and I also received ‘stroke of brilliance’ as a Klout perk but hadn’t used it yet. luxeffects is a multi-dimensional top coat so I decided to give it a whirl on top of ‘no place like chrome’. After applying ‘stroke of brilliance’ to one nail I was impressed, it really is brilliant! I ended up loving this mani once I was finished and I’ve gotten many compliments about it. No one could tell what disaster lied underneath, so Essie ‘stroke of brilliance’ saved my Mirror Metallics mani!
Disclosure: I was given products by Essie because I’m a Klout influencer. I am under no obligation to receive the sample or talk about this company. I get no additional benefits for talking about the product or company.
