Birchbox time! I know I am a bit late posting my April box, but I’ve been uber busy working on a few projects. Also my Birchbox shipped a little later than usual on the 10th of the month and I received it on the the 16th. I usually get it by the 12th of the month. Anywho, the April theme for Birchbox is Natural Wonder. Natural products…exciting!
April 2012 Birchbox Contents:
- Befine Skincare Sampler (five .34 fl oz samples – 2 Single Serve Gentle Cleanser, 3 Single Serve Daily Moisturizer SPF 15
- Atelier Cologne – Orange Sanguine Colgne Absolue
- Atelier Postcard
- Olie Biologique – 004 Huile Moderne Hydrating Oil (5 ml)
- Revolution Organics Freedom Glow Beauty Balm – Bronzed
- Lifestyle Extra: Le Palais des Thes Tea Bags (2)
From the size of the Befine Skincare Sampler box, I got the idea that inside I would find deluxe sample bottles. However, they are actually sample packs. They are larger than other samples packs I have received though. I once received skincare samples in packs so tiny that they were just enough to rub a bit of moisture on my hands…and my hands are childlike! The skincare sampler includes 2 packs of Single Serve Gentle Cleanser and 3 packs Single Serve Daily Moisturizer SPF 15, each being .34 fl oz. I do not understand why there are 2 cleansers and 3 moisturizers, but whatevs, I dig skincare!
Atelier Orange Sanguine Cologne Absolue is a mixture of blood orange, jasmine and sandalwood. Mina does not like. Yes, I referred to myself in the 3rd person, don’t judge me! Matter of fact, I am going to take it a step further…Mina has a strong sense of smell like a puppy, she is very sensitive to fragrances and therefore is picky! Mina no like, not one flippin bit, nope! Okay seriously, we all have our own preferences and this one simply is not mine. It may smell divine to someone else! The postcard was a cute touch.
I like that the Olie Biologique 004 Huile Moderne Hydrating Oil contains rosehip and argon oil. (Phew, that name is a mouthful!) Apparently it can be used on the face, body and hair. I do not think the fragrance would mesh well with perfume so I will skip the body usage. I’ll try it on my hair, it doesn’t seem too heavy so it shouldn’t weigh my hair down or make it greasy. Whenever I see the words oil and face in one sentence, I imagine an animated scene in which my defenseless pores scream in terror, “Brace yourselves, take cover, protect the lil ones!” as they prepare with little hope of surviving the drowning event. Wait, what? You don’t imagine things in cartoon form?
Revolution Organics Freedom Glow Beauty Balm is definitely on my radar! It is all natural and can be used on lips, cheeks and eye lids. I do not picture myself using it on my lids, this is a creamy product and creamy textures tend to cause creasing more for me. The shade I received is Bronzed and if I like it I want to try Blushed! I think I am also excited because it is a full-sized product. Anyone who has been a Birchbox member for 6 months or more knows the samples were once larger and have gotten much smaller over time. It is just nice to see that Birchbox seems to be headed back to basics. (Which were deluxe samples!)
Now, the lifestyle extra, Le Palais des Thes tea bags. Tea bags? Really? I’m sure some may find it nice and cute, maybe they love tea. I have not tried it yet but I’d much rather get an extra beauty sample instead of tea bags, paper coasters or that lame anniversary friendship bracelet made of a single strand of yarn that I could have made when I was 5. Yikes, totally went on vent mode there! Okay, maybe I should drink that tea…
Alright, aside from my personal preference of fragrance and bratty tantrum about tea, coasters and bracelets, I still like and have faith in Birchbox. Though I would have loved to get nail polish like some of the other boxes had. Anywho, the Revolution Organics is $36 retail so that alone makes a $10 Birchbox worth it! If you like, you can go see my March 2012 Birchbox, Teen Vogue Edition. I am going to read my own post about Complaining Too Much so I Don’t Sweat Small Stuff!
Have a fabulous weekend darlings!
