Am I the only human alive who didn’t fawn over or love the Missoni For Target line? It debuted in September and had masses of fashion lovers lined up in a frenzy at Target stores, crashed Target.com and sold out in the blink of an eye! I think I slept that day. I honestly couldn’t care less if Target never carries Missoni again. Harsh right? I have no dramatic stance against Missoni, nothing more than a dislike for the designs. I even gave it several weeks to grow on me, thinking I’d pick a few pieces up on Ebay if I changed my mind. Didn’t happen. I didn’t buy it from Target so I definitely wouldn’t buy it on Ebay for more! It is personal taste and the line merely doesn’t appeal to me.
It's like someone from the 70's upchucked every textile they encountered throughout the entire decade. I get the puzzling urge to use words like psychedelic and groovy.
Viewing some items from the collection offended my eyeballs in a painful way. My poor pupils get confused and do not know where to look. It’s like a newbie with a DSLR camera on manual mode…the camera, if it had thoughts, would wonder what the fluffernutter it’s supposed to focus on! I think some of the pieces are quite cute but majority of the patterns are far too busy, especially when you pair them together. When I saw the line at Target, I felt like I could have seizures and I’m not even epileptic.
Some pieces would look amazing if styled well with solids, not paired with various busy patterns as shown in the Missoni For Target lookbook.

Some pieces of the Missoni For Target line are nice, like the cosmetic cases and housewares. I like the cosmetic cases and may try to get my hands on one but that’s about it. I guess I personally just do not get the big deal about this collection from a fashion perspective. All the press, the declarations of fashion lust and “Omg must get Missoni or I’ll have a meltdown” reactions baffled me. This shopaholic is lost and scratching her head. Last I heard is that even in the last few weeks, people had not received their items due to back orders and were issued a $25 Target gift card instead. Insanity. I love Target, love, love…but the Missoni line is just a miss for me.
I like the cosmetics cases, clutches and housewares but Target.com crashed and I was not naive enough to think there would be any left in store.
What are your thoughts on Missoni For Target? Have you purchased any pieces that won’t make me dizzy or want to solve a maze game on fabric?
